AMBTA - A Consensus

What AMBTA and the wider Mountain Bike Community in Angus are looking for -

We have held consultations across Angus, a number of general meetings and distributed an essential criteria survey across the mailing list. During this process we’ve also elected a committee, and accepted a constitution.

The committee have discussed the results of the essential criteria survey and considered the views aired at the general meetings and it is our belief that our main focus is the creation of a Trail Centre on a similar scale to Laggan. We feel it is essential that this Trail Centre should be part of a viable commercial proposal.

To make this work we believe that the Trail Centre should exist in conjunction with other visitor attraction either existing or with potential to develop. The trails themselves should be based around a loop that appeals to all levels of rider with both harder and easier alternatives off it. We hope that by proposing a development on a commercial footing we will find support from landowners easier to come by.

At present the committee is considering the following venues:

· Forestry Commission in Glen Isla
· The northern part of the Sidlaws near Glamis
· Glen Esk specifically west of the river and below the Hill of Wirren
· Forestry Commission in Drumtochty
· An area in or around Glen Clova and Glen Prosen
· An area above Auchnacree
· Kinpurney Estate
